Food Aid for Poor Families program aims to provide staples for families in need, including priority community members such as; orphans, elderly, and disabled.
Abu Hurairah (RA) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: “Whoever relieves a Muslim of a burden from the burdens of the world, Allah will relieve him of a burden from the burdens on the Day of Judgement. And whoever helps ease a difficulty in the world, Allah will grant him ease from a difficulty in the world and in the Hereafter. And whoever covers (the faults of) a Muslim, Allah will cover (his faults) for him in the world and the Hereafter. And Allah is engaged in helping the worshipper as long as the worshipper is engaged in helping his brother.” [Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1930, Book 27, Hadith 36]
Poor families in Indonesia have been struggling to fulfill their needs due to the soaring food prices recently. There are 25.9 million poor people in Indonesia, with an average of 4.7 members in a family, and a poverty line of USD165.50 per household/month (March 2023, Statistics Indonesia).
Rumah Wakaf initiated the Food Aid program to help families cope with the rising food costs during peak periods throughout the year.
Program Goal
Food Aid for Poor Families program aims to provide staples for families in need, including priority community members such as; orphans, elderly, and persons with disability. Food Aids given in several formats based on the local community issues and priority.

Food Aids will be distributed in forms of:
- Food Pack, containing: rice, cooking oil, sugar, protein (fish and/or meat), flour, seasoning, instant noodles, and tea. Each package expected to to cover the needs for a family of 4-5 persons. Food package per month costs USD 198, targeting to support 25 most needed families. Food package costs USD 50 per week, targeted to support 50 families.
- Meal Pack, containing full meal menus of: rice, protein (fish and/or meat), vegetables, fruits, water, and dessert. Each meal costs USD 3.00, targeted to support a minimum of 500 meal packs
